Marika is a transformative leader passionate about advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice (DEIBJ) in healthcare & public health. With a background as an elementary educator in California and Indiana, she brings a unique perspective to her role as a Practice Coach, focusing on implementing progressive strategies at Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) for clients managing chronic diseases. Marika is a trailblazer, championing trauma-informed care among health center staff through the Indiana Primary Care Learning Collaborative. Marika leads the Indiana Department of Health's Health Equity Council, driving efforts to establish equitable processes and practices across program areas. Her six years in public health have shaped her commitment to creating inclusive care environments, enhancing the birthing experience, and increasing breastfeeding rates. Marika holds a Bachelor's in African American Studies from UCR, a Master's in Education from UCLA, a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Certification, and she is currently pursuing a Doctoral Degree at the University of Indianapolis. Her journey exemplifies resilience and compassion, solidifying her as a driving force for change and progress.
